UFOs: The Great Debate: An Objective Look at Extraterrestrials, Government Cover-ups, and the Prospect of First Contact

UFOs: The Great Debate: An Objective Look at Extraterrestrials, Government Cover-ups, and the Prospect of First Contact

Do UFOs really exist? Are we alone in the universe? Is the government hiding the truth from us? With his signature objective and balanced approach, J Allan Danelek explores the controversial questions surrounding extraterrestrials that have raged for years. This wide-ranging and captivating book begins with a historical overview of the decades-ling debate, followed by an incisive look at the case for and against extraterrestrial intelligence.

Danelek presents scientific evidence supporting UFOs and other life-sustaining planets, examines hoaxes and raises practical objections based on radar findings and satellite observations. Next he delves into government conspiracies and cover-ups - including Roswell, alien visitation and alien technology. There is also intriguing speculation about the alien agenda - crop circles, alien abductions - and suggestions of possible scenarios, both benign and malevolent, for first contact with an alien race.

Review

Well balanced, objective and gives serious consideration to the subject of UFOs, 12 Jan 2009

Having long been interested in both the scientific search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence and the (sometimes fringe) topic of UFOs I was pleasantly surprised to find that this book adopted a fair and balanced approach to a subject which can all too often be treated with both unthinking scepticism by debunkers or total, uncritical acceptance by far out mystics.

To find a book such as this one that takes an open-minded but objective look at the facts and then seeks to make reasonable assumptions about the likelihood of Alien visitation is refreshing to say the least.

Throughout J. Allan Danelek gives an excellent overview of the history, current thinking on the nature of, and theories surrounding, the UFO phenomena. Treating the subject (and related modern anomalous reports such as Crop Circles, MIB's & purported alien abduction) with enough open-mindedness to accept that there are real events to be explained he nevertheless does so without losing his objectivity or a reasonable level of critical analysis of the subject matter - he neither accepts facts or fantastical explanations blindly nor attempts to belittle UFO sightings as `all in the mind' or the product of deliberate hoaxing.

This is a sensible, unsensationalist book for those people interested in an intriguing subject - ideal for both someone looking for a first introduction to the mystery of Unidentified Flying Objects or people already familiar with the subject. J. Allan Danelek's conclusions about the phenomena are both exciting and objective (a rare combination given the two extremes of opinion that are normally generated by any UFO debate).

Whatever the ultimate scientific truth is regarding intelligent alien life the discussion is greatly enhanced by quality books such as this.

Need to Know: UFOs, the Military and Intelligence

Need to Know: UFOs, the Military and Intelligence

UFOs remain essentially a military and intelligence problem - and one demanding unprecedented security and deception, with access to information on a strictly 'need to know' basis. As early as 1960 former CIA director Admiral Hillenkoetter confirmed that, 'Behind the scenes, high-ranking air force officers are soberly concerned about the UFOs. But through official secrecy and ridicule, many citizens are led to believe the unknown flying objects are nonsense.' The same could be said today.

Based on many years of research by one of the world's most respected authorities on alien phenomena, Need to Know draws on top-secret documents, reports of encounters with large craft of unknown origin from pilots and personnel aboard aircraft carriers and destroyers and interviews with high-ranking military insiders. It is full of revelations, including the alarming escalation of aircraft accidents and the disappearance of hundreds of military aircraft during UFO encounters and recent near-misses with UFOs. The evidence is clear, balanced - and irrefutable.
